Nasals have a free passage of air through the nasal cavity. If you
close the nose and try to pronounce a nasal, the sound will significantly
change. The most well known nasals are semi consonants [m] and [n].
To pronounce semi umlauts tongue goes down and backwards.
To pronounce umlauts tongue goes way down and backwards so that
even jaw goes a little bit down. When jaw goes down, it causes assimilation of
vowels. Result is that number of umlauts is double less than number of other
types of vowels. If one would open mouth as much as possible and try to
pronounce vowels they will be barely distinguishable.

Letters “Ö” and “Ü” are already used for phonemes [Ö] and [Ü] in German and Hungarian. Letter “Æ” was in use for phoneme
[Æ] in Old English / Anglo
Saxon. I was trying to keep Alphabet as traditional as possible. Whenever some
phoneme already had a letter, I am respecting the tradition and using this
letter for this phoneme, if it is not violating the phonetic rules.
